The armed forces of Ukraine are confidently grinding the potential of the Russian army, which is fighting with Soviet-style equipment. This was stated on the air of the FREEDOM TV channel by military expert Valery Ryabykh.
“Now, in principle, all post-Soviet equipment is being ground on the battlefield, the Armed Forces of Ukraine are confidently grinding the potential of the Russian army. And, of course, at the same time, Soviet equipment is being used and partly it is damaged, and partly it can no longer continue to be used. The fact is that, as shown by the use of equipment by the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Western equipment has huge advantages, and this is explained precisely by the philosophy of creating this equipment, ”the expert said.
He recalled that post-Soviet military equipment was created in conditions of fast and cheap production for massive use in the course of large-scale offensive operations. At the same time, such factors as the need to protect military personnel were practically not taken into account.
“Western technology is built around the soldier, where he is the basis of combat power. And the use of the same M2 Bradley manufactured by the United States of America or Leopard tanks showed that even when meeting minefields on the battlefield, when countering the enemy with various anti-tank weapons, these vehicles show great survival of personnel and practically, let’s say, existing enemy means on the battlefield do not allow to destroy this equipment irretrievably, as it happens, for example, even with the same latest Russian T-90 “Breakthrough” tanks. The fact is that just in post-Soviet tanks, personnel literally sit on a powder keg of ammunition: defeat in the armor of an object in a large number of cases leads to the explosion of ammunition that is inside, which leads to the complete defeat of the crew and the complete destruction of this equipment, ”- Ryabykh said.
According to the expert, Western technology allows you to protect the crew, and if damaged, it can be successfully evacuated and restored. So, for example, Leopard tanks, which received quite severe damage, are being repaired in Poland.
Ryabykh also stressed that, according to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, military production in Ukraine is steadily increasing. We are talking about the maintenance of equipment that was supplied as part of assistance to Ukraine in the field of security.
“It is also the production of artillery ammunition, as well as the production of various strike weapons, and primarily drones and various types of robotic systems, which are now quite widespread in Ukraine. And the latest decisions of both the president and the government create all the conditions for the production of such systems, which firmly occupy their place on the battlefield, to increase at a very rapid pace, ”the expert said.
