Moscow is building its strategy for the coming year in close connection with the upcoming presidential elections in the United States of America. This opinion was expressed on the FREEDOM TV channel by Bogdan Ferens, candidate of political sciences, founder of the SD Platform NGO.

“I can say at the current moment what strategy the Kremlin is most likely building in the next six months – at least a year. This is indeed a very serious connection to the elections in the United States of America. Unfortunately, we see that domestic political debates and possible changes in the head of the White House do affect the context. And the Kremlin is waiting, trying again to bet on the fact that there will be, for example, a new president in the United States of America. They will start one way or another, perhaps some kind of consultation,” he said.

The candidate of political science recalled that similar actions of the Russian Federation were observed back in 2016 – before the full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

“There were expectations in Moscow that Trump would come and everything would change in relations between the United States and Russia. Propaganda constantly praised Trump. I think they are also partially doing this now. But I would not say that these relations have changed dramatically since Trump’s first arrival. Because, again, there is a certain institutional component, and again, for the United States of America, Russia is a very serious threat in the context of global security. So I think the Kremlin is now trying to use its tools as much as possible both on the European continent and in the United States of America to really influence a change in sentiment, to change the discussion in the media, in politics, in political debates,” Ference said.

In his opinion, it is now important that the leaders of partner countries convincingly convey to their citizens why further support for Ukraine is important in the fight for common values.

“I believe that we should really strengthen our cooperation, if possible, specify and speed up processes in the context of military, financial and economic support. These are the key arguments that will not allow the Kremlin to use its resources in counteraction in Western countries,” Ference is convinced.

Earlier, candidate of political sciences, international affairs expert Stanislav Zhelikhovsky believes that next year will be difficult for relations between Ukraine and the United States, because everything will happen in the context of the presidential campaign in the United States. But Ukraine can count on continued economic and military support from its main Western allies.
