Russia increasing fuel imports from Belarus in March due to attacks on oil refineries — Reuters

Russia, which has always been a big exporter of petrol, is now struggling after drone attacks on its oil refineries and turning to its loyal neighbour for help.

In the first half of March, Russia bought about 3,000 tonnes of petrol from Belarus which is much more than in February, 590 tonnes. In January, Russia imported no petrol from Belarus.

It is suggested that Belarus is reluctant to increase its supplies to Russia as it would like to choose international market over the neighbor

According to sources cited by Reuters, Russia may also involve the Novopolotsk Oil Refinery and the Mozyr Oil Refinery in Belarus, as in sending oil to Belarus and getting oil products in return.

At the same time, Russia is now looking into the scale of damage, having analyzed it, the aggressor state will estimate the volumes of gasoline it might need from Belarus in future.

On March 1, the government of Russia banned petrol exports for six months. In addition, they increased the standard for diesel sales on the exchange to 16%.
