The Russian Federation has sent paratroopers to the Republic of Kazakhstan as part of the international peacekeeping force to deter mass rallies.

This was reported by UA with reference to the Telegram channel of the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova.

“Currently, the Russian part of the peacekeeping contingent is being transferred to the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan by planes of the military transport aircraft of the Russian Armed Forces. The advanced units of its staff have already started fulfilling the set tasks” – Zakharova said.

The main tasks of the peacekeeping forces are:

  • protection of important state and military facilities;
  • assistance to the law enforcement forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan in stabilizing the situation;
  • return to the legal field.

It will be recalled that the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) has decided to send troops to Kazakhstan. It is noted that troops will be sent for a limited period “in order to stabilize and normalize” the situation.
