US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has indicated that there could soon be developments regarding a $400 million military assistance package for Ukraine that has already been approved by Congress.

The secretary’s comments were reported by RFE/RL, according to UATV English.

In late April, Senator Mitch McConnell published an article in The Washington Post accusing officials at the US Department of Defense of delaying the delivery of congressionally approved aid to Ukraine.

Following the criticism, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth stated that the funds had already been allocated and transferred.

Rubio said that the package is currently undergoing an interagency review and coordination process.

“I expect news on that very soon,” he said.

The assistance package in question amounts to $400 million for the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI), a program under which the Pentagon purchases military equipment from US defense contractors for Ukraine. The funding was included in the National Defense Authorization Act approved by the US Congress in December 2025.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio also said that President Donald Trump will take part in the upcoming NATO summit scheduled to be held in Turkey in July.

“The United States remains a member of the NATO alliance, and we will be in Turkey to discuss all of these issues. The president will personally participate in the next meeting of NATO heads of state, where all of these matters will be clarified,” Rubio said.
