German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius announced that Germany will provide Ukraine with an additional €1.9 billion in military assistance.

His statement was made during a press conference in Kyiv alongside Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, as reported by the DPA news agency.

According to Pistorius, the additional funds will be used, among other things, to procure long-range missiles for Ukraine, enabling strikes deep behind Russian front lines.

However, as DPA notes, the allocation of these additional funds still requires approval from the Bundestag.

If approved, Germany’s total military aid to Ukraine in 2025 would reach a record €9 billion.

Pistorius arrived in Kyiv on Thursday morning for an unannounced visit to discuss further military support with members of the Ukrainian government.

To recall, under the previous government led by Olaf Scholz, Germany had already approved €3 billion in military aid for Ukraine in 2025, as well as an additional €8.3 billion for the period 2026–2029.
