Recently-elected Polish Prime Minister rejects any doubts about supporting Ukraine in its war against Russia.
This was stated by Polish PM Donald Tusk in his interview with TVN24.
“I will never allow anyone in my government to base their position on any anti-Ukrainian sentiment,” said Polish PM with reference to the previous government of Mateusz Morawiecki, led by the Law and Justice Party, who “tried to play an anti-Ukrainian note” during their election campaign.
Polish PM reiterated that Poland and the entire world are ‘in relative safety’ thanks to Ukrane fighting against Russia.
“There can be no hesitation with regard to arming and supporting Ukraine in the war. It’s unquestionable to me,” the Polish prime minister said and added he is currently actively involved in cooperating with partners in Europe in order to provide such support.
At the same time, Tusk claimed Warsaw’s relations with Kyiv “have two dimensions”, meaning Poland will also pursue its own interests, economical in particular.
“I will certainly be more insistent. I will expect the Ukrainian side to help us cure all these pathological situations on the border, so that our people do not have to blockade and strike,” he said as the last months of the Ukrainian-Polish cooperation has been clouded by farmer strikes at the border and distubance about Ukraine’s abundant import of agricultural products.
Tusk also mentioned he wanted to have a meeting with Polish President Andrzej Duda to discuss his visit to Ukraine, which will take place “in the near future” among other important things. The meeting is to be held today, on January 15.
