New Zealand has announced an additional humanitarian assistance package for Ukraine worth NZ$5 million (approximately US$3 million), the country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade said, UATV English reports.

“As Russia continues its brutal attacks, New Zealand is providing Ukraine with an additional NZ$5 million in humanitarian assistance. New Zealand stands firmly with Ukraine and its people,” the ministry said in a post on X.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha welcomed the announcement and thanked New Zealand and Foreign Minister Winston Peters for the additional support.

“I am grateful to New Zealand and my colleague Winston Peters for announcing an additional US$3 million in humanitarian assistance for Ukraine. As Russia continues its brutal attacks against Ukrainian civilians and critical infrastructure, we highly appreciate this contribution to strengthening our people’s resilience,” Sybiha wrote on X.

He added that Ukraine is deeply grateful to New Zealand for its principled solidarity and continued support.

In May, the New Zealand government also imposed a new round of sanctions on 20 Russian individuals and entities for supporting Russia’s war against Ukraine.
