In response to recent Russian violations of Polish airspace, the German federal government announced it will increase patrols along NATO’s eastern frontier, Germany’s government spokesperson Stefan Cornelius said.

Key points:
🔹 Germany will expand airspace patrols over Poland, complementing existing commitments in the Baltics and Poland.
🔹 The federal government will also enhance support for Ukraine, working within the EU to accelerate adoption of a robust 19th sanctions package against Russia.
🔹 German Air Force personnel are already assisting Poland, with around 150 Bundeswehr troops and Patriot missile batteries deployed.
🔹 In Lithuania, Germany is deploying its first overseas tank brigade.

The announcement follows the night of September 10, when over 20 Russian drones crossed into Polish airspace, an incident NATO called an escalation.

This move underscores Germany’s commitment to NATO collective defense and European security amid ongoing Russian aggression.
