“Kord” was reinforced with Kozak armored cars: what tasks will the new equipment perform

In the Kharkiv region, another Ukrainian-made Kozak armored car was handed over to the special forces of the Kord police department, FREEDOM informs. Kozak armored vehicles are indispensable if you need to move or transport someone under fire, say police officers from the Kord special unit. “Its purpose is to protect personnel from debris, to cover the group during the attack and withdrawal, sweeps, because it is equipped with a machine gun, which is a strong argument during hostilities. Yes, it’s not a tank, but how can an armored car deliver a group and evacuate the group,” says a police officer of the special unit “Kord” with the call sign “Centaur”.

The car is also used by the “White Angel” detachment to evacuate civilians from front-line areas. One such car — “Svitlana” — is already operating in the Kupyansk direction. The second “Kozak” was purchased with the funds of the Kharkiv regional budget, it cost the community almost 13 million hryvnias. “Cord special unit performs completely different combat tasks, in particular, both on the front line and on the territory of our region. This is a special unit that actually stopped a reconnaissance and sabotage group that tried to get to us on February 27, 2022. And, of course, we understand that we have to work on strengthening it,” Oleg Synegubov, the head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, emphasizes.

“Kozak” is a Ukrainian-made armored vehicle. The police advised the manufacturers which machine gun should be installed on the armor. The car was waiting for six months from the assembly line, and it was worth it, the police admit. The new “Kozak” will be sent to the Kupyansky direction.

“There are probably hundreds of shellings taking place in that area, and in fact the shelling does not stop for a minute. These are artillery shells, rocket systems of volley fire. All that this vehicle can protect against: shrapnel wounds, mostly cumulative wounds. We will be able to take civilians out of the fire, evacuate children to safer places,” says Volodymyr Tymoshko, head of the National Police Headquarters in the Kharkiv region.

Currently, the special forces have two Kozak armored cars at their disposal, the police assure that three times more are needed. Therefore, in the 2024 budget, they plan to lay down funds for the purchase of at least one more such armored vehicle.
