Russia has been using wave tactics for the past year. From time to time, it first increases the number of troops near the Ukrainian borders, and later withdraws them.
This was informed today by Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov in the Verkhovna Rada during an hour of questions to the government, UA reports.
“Russia has been using wave tactics throughout the year. There has been a concentration of troops near our borders. Then personnel have been deployed and equipment remains there as well. This allows the enemy to reduce deployment time. In April and September Russia has pulled more than 50 battalions of tactical groups to the borders” – he explained.
Reznikov added that 41 battalion tactical groups are currently on standby around Ukraine and in the temporarily occupied Crimea. Of which 33 – on a permanent basis, 8 more are transferred to the Crimea.
“The total number of troops in Russia and the temporarily occupied territories that may be used for escalation is currently estimated at 94.3 thousand people” – the minister said.
