Considering the number of different flags on his guitar case, it’s quite easy to guess that Jeshurun is a globetrotter. Same with his passport. Since 2014 this 32-years-old Malaysian has been travelling the world, always with the same goal: play the guitar and inspire people.
“So Ukraine is my 83rd country where I’m stopping for a specific purpose which is to inspire people through my music and my story of what happened in my life actually,” he said.
After he acquired a serious hearing deficiency when he was 17, Jeshurun fell into a depression. With the help of music and spirituality, he finally managed to get over it step by step. Jeshurun is also a fervent Christian, so he felt invested in a mission: giving hope to people everywhere he goes, by doing lectures, giving interviews or simply playing the guitar. As a former employee of a big American company, he said he’s earned enough money to travel.
“Actually I planned to go to all those countries in advance, I don’t have any prior contacts or something. So I started making contacts by sending my profile ‘Hey, I’m coming, I’m doing all this, would you be interested to have me,’ and many people responded to that. So many people hosted me, I stayed with many people, I eat their food, I learn their culture and they bring me to all these schools, university, just to give these talks, just to inspire people,” he said.
After traveling in countries such as Afghanistan, Australia, France, Egypt and Mongolia, Jeshurun landed in Kyiv for the first time.
“People here really love music because literally every few hundred meters I see someone on the street stops and play music, and on Sunday I was able to speak with groups of people and while I was speaking to them I was able to share my music, tell my story and inspire them, and today I’m with you. So I have a message for people of Ukraine who are watching this: there’s life, there could be many struggles, there could be many challenges but I wanna tell you do not give up because in this life your life is the most precious thing in your world,” he said.
After his short stay in Ukraine, Jeshurun is planning to fly to Belarus to continue giving advice.
