Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said he discussed the outcomes of his recent meetings in the United States and the current diplomatic outlook during talks with Finnish President Alexander Stubb, UATV English reports.
According to Zelenskyy, the two leaders noted that Russia is sustaining heavy battlefield losses while its economy is coming under increasing strain. He added that Stubb highlighted Ukraine’s progress in conducting long-range operations against Russian military and economic targets.
The leaders also discussed strengthening Ukraine’s air defenses. Zelenskyy stressed that interceptor missiles for the Patriot air defense system are needed “literally every day” to protect civilians from continued Russian attacks.
The two presidents also reviewed ongoing diplomatic efforts, with Zelenskyy saying Ukraine is preparing for a series of important international meetings scheduled for August.
“I am grateful for the detailed understanding of our needs,” Zelenskyy said after the meeting.
