President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with U.S. Ambassador to NATO Matthew Whitaker and Lt. Gen. Curtis Buzzard, commander of NATO’s Security Assistance and Training for Ukraine (NSATU), to discuss strengthening Ukraine’s air defense and expanding bilateral defense cooperation, UATV English reports.
According to Zelenskyy, the talks focused primarily on increasing supplies of Patriot interceptor missiles through the Priority Ukraine Requirements List (PURL), which he described as Ukraine’s top priority as Russia continues large-scale missile and drone attacks.
The president also discussed U.S.-Ukrainian defense cooperation, including the implementation of U.S. President Donald Trump’s decision, announced at the NATO summit in Ankara, to grant Ukraine a license to produce Patriot interceptor missiles domestically.
Another topic was the proposed Drone Deal, which Zelenskyy said both sides are currently working to finalize and which he described as having significant potential.
During the meeting, Zelenskyy presented Lt. Gen. Buzzard with the Order of Merit, Third Class, in recognition of his contribution to supporting Ukraine.
The president thanked the United States for its continued assistance, expressing gratitude to President Trump, the U.S. Congress and the American people for their support of Ukraine.
