The Demining Capability Coalition for Ukraine will establish a €95 million fund to assist in clearing Ukraine’s territory of explosive hazards and plans to provide Ukraine with specialized demining equipment and machinery worth €205 million in 2026.
According to UATV English, the announcement was made by Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense citing Rolandas Kiškis, the coordinator of the Demining Capability Coalition from the Ministry of National Defense of the Republic of Lithuania.
The Coalition’s 22nd working group meeting of participating states was held in Lviv.
Participating countries plan to secure an additional €142 million in 2027 to support mine action activities in Ukraine.
Participants in the meeting focused particularly on international assistance aimed at developing Ukraine’s national demining capabilities, primarily through technical equipment and personnel training aligned with the requirements of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine and the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The Ukrainian delegation was headed by Ruslan Berehulia, Head of the Main Directorate of Mine Action, Civil Protection, and Environmental Safety and Head of the Secretariat of the National Mine Action Agency.
According to Berehulia, Ukraine faces the task of restoring safe living conditions for its people, rehabilitating war-affected territories, and laying the foundation for the country’s future development. Achieving these goals, he noted, is impossible without an effective mine action system and the continued development of demining capabilities.
Representatives of 13 countries attended the meeting, along with delegates from the NATO Representation to Ukraine, the CPVA, Tetra Tech, the MAT Kosovo training center, and the Canadian charitable organization Mriya Aid.
Currently, 23 countries are members of the Demining Capability Coalition for Ukraine.
The Coalition’s areas of activity include both military and humanitarian demining, with its primary objective being the mobilization of international support in these fields.
As previously reported by Ukrinform, one of the Coalition member states recently contributed an additional €2 million to the Demining Capability Coalition’s fund for Ukraine.
