At least five people have been killed in Kyiv following a large-scale Russian overnight attack, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said, as strikes hit multiple regions and damaged civilian infrastructure across the country, UATV English reports, citing the President’s Telegram.

Around 40 people were injured in the capital, with additional casualties reported in other regions. Seven people were wounded in the Kyiv region, 28 in Kharkiv, and two more in the Odesa region.

According to Zelenskyy, a total of 180 facilities were damaged nationwide, including more than 50 residential buildings.

Rescue operations are still ongoing in Kyiv’s Darnytskyi district, where emergency crews are searching for people trapped under the rubble of a destroyed apartment building. More than 10 individuals are currently considered missing. Response efforts are also continuing in the Obolonskyi district, while recovery operations are underway in the Poltava region.

More than 750 State Emergency Service personnel and nearly 750 police officers have been deployed nationwide to deal with the aftermath of the strikes.

In a separate incident, Russian forces attacked a vehicle belonging to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) during a humanitarian mission in Kherson. The vehicle, which carried the head of the mission and eight staff members, was targeted twice by FPV drones. No one was injured, and all personnel were safely evacuated.

Despite the scale attacks, Ukrainian air defenses intercepted over 93% of incoming drones and missiles, Zelenskyy said, noting that ballistic threats remain the most difficult to counter.

The president emphasized that Russia’s continued strikes demonstrate a lack of intent to end the war and called for increased international pressure and sanctions.

“Russia must be held accountable, and global pressure must be strengthened so that those responsible feel the consequences of their terror,” Zelenskyy said, urging partners not to remain silent and to continue supporting Ukraine.
