Ukraine’s Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov, commenting on the relevance of supplying Taurus cruise missiles to Ukraine, said that Kyiv is always open to receiving more strike capabilities, although it already possesses its own missiles of similar range.
As reported by UATV English, Fedorov made the statement on Monday, as cited by Interfax-Ukraine, during a briefing in Kyiv with his German counterpart Boris Pistorius.
“If we are talking about Taurus, of course we already have missiles that operate at similar and even greater distances. But there can never be too many such strike capabilities,” he said.
Fedorov added that Ukraine is always open to acquiring more strike systems.
“But in fact, today we are already achieving a certain independence in this area. We have all seen strikes on Russia at distances of 1,500 km. And therefore Ukraine is doing its homework well,” the minister stated.
In March, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz emphasized that Germany does not currently plan to supply Taurus missiles to Ukraine and noted that Ukraine already possesses long-range weapons, partly produced with German assistance.
Boris Pistorius arrived in Kyiv on Monday for talks on expanding cooperation in the defense industry with Ukraine.
