President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting in Paris with representatives of the U.S. president’s team — Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. This was reported by UATV English, citing the Office of the President of Ukraine.
During the meeting, the sides discussed pathways to achieving peace and issues of further cooperation between the United States and Ukraine. Zelenskyy thanked the American partners for their assistance and efforts aimed at ending the war.
“With the U.S. president’s team — Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner — we continued discussing the diplomatic path to ending the war. I thank America for its readiness to provide a backstop across all areas: security guarantees, ceasefire monitoring, and reconstruction,” Zelenskyy said.
The talks also covered cooperation with the so-called “coalition of the willing”, as well as the signing of a number of documents on further cooperation.
The key focus of the Paris negotiations was security guarantees for Ukraine and achieving a just peace.
According to Zelenskyy, on January 7, the Ukrainian delegation and Western partners will continue working on security guarantees and a basic framework agreement to end the war.
“On January 7 in Paris, our teams will continue work on security guarantees and the basic framework for ending the war,” the Ukrainian president said.
Ukraine’s delegation at the talks includes newly appointed Head of the Office of the President Kyrylo Budanov, First Deputy Head of the Office Serhii Kyslytsia, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Rustem Umerov, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Andrii Hnatov, Head of the Servant of the People faction in parliament Davyd Arakhamia, and Presidential Office adviser Oleksandr Bevz.
Earlier, it was reported that United Kingdom and France had agreed to establish military logistics hubs across Ukraine following a ceasefire.
