U.S. President Donald Trump commented on his expectations for the upcoming meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, noting that Ukraine seeks to obtain weapons, particularly Tomahawk missile systems.

He said this on Tuesday during a meeting with Argentine President Javier Milei at the White House, Ukrinform’s correspondent reports.

“We will talk about Ukraine, yes. I mean, the president (Zelenskyy) is coming to see me on Friday, and I know what he’s going to say. He wants weapons. He would like to have Tomahawks,” Trump said in response to a question about his planned meeting with Zelenskyy.

The U.S. president added that “others also want Tomahawks,” and that the United States has a lot of them.

At the same time, Trump once again expressed disappointment with Russian leader Vladimir Putin.

“He (Putin) really needs to settle this war,” the U.S. president said, emphasizing that Putin could have ended the war in Ukraine very quickly.

“I’m very disappointed, because Vladimir and I had a very good relationship — maybe we still do,” Trump added, expressing puzzlement as to why the Russian leader continues the war in Ukraine.

“This war has brought him so much harm,” Trump said.

Trump emphasized that Russia is now entering the fourth year of a war it had planned to win within a week and has already lost about 1.5 million soldiers, including killed and wounded. He added that Russians now stand in long lines for gasoline as the Russian economy deteriorates.

As previously reported, President Zelenskyy plans to meet with President Trump at the White House on Friday. According to Zelenskyy, he intends to propose a number of steps aimed at achieving peace and discuss their sequence with his American counterpart.
