EU Defense Commissioner Andrius Kubilius told Wyborcza that German intelligence has indicated the Kremlin is discussing a potential strike on NATO.
“German intelligence says it has evidence that the Kremlin is talking about attacking NATO. Whether this discussion means an actual plan is unclear, but such warnings must be taken very seriously,” Kubilius said.
He also suggested that Russia might indeed be preparing for war, emphasizing that NATO and Europe need to be ready. According to Kubilius, lessons should be drawn not only from Ukraine’s experience but also from Russia’s own actions.
“We must make up for lost time, and we are already acting. The European Commission is supporting the defense industry, which will increase artillery shell production in 2025. I am encouraged by the construction of new arms factories across the EU—we are catching up,” he added.
