According to the agency, this time the special operation was conducted underwater.
It is reported that SSU agents planted explosives on the structure and activated the device this morning. The operation took several months to prepare.
“The operation lasted several months. SSU agents planted explosives on the supports of this illegal structure. And today, without any civilian casualties, at 4:44 a.m., the first explosive device was activated! The underwater supports of the pillars were severely damaged at the seabed level — 1,100 kg of explosives in TNT equivalent made this possible. As a result, the bridge is effectively in an emergency condition,” the statement reads.
SSU Head Vasyl Maliuk personally oversaw the operation and coordinated its planning.
“SSU always follows through with its plans and never repeats itself. Previously, we struck the Kerch Bridge twice — in 2022 and 2023. So today, we continued this tradition, this time underwater. There is no place for any illegal Russian structures on the territory of our state. That is why the Kerch Bridge is an entirely legitimate target, especially considering that the enemy used it as a logistical artery to supply its troops. Crimea is Ukraine, and any manifestations of occupation will receive our harsh response,” he stated.
