Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of Ukraine, arrived today in the capital of Syria, Damascus, where he will hold important meetings, reports UATV English.
He announced this on Telegram.
“Today in Damascus. We continue our active Ukrainian diplomacy for the sake of real security and economic cooperation. Important meetings lie ahead — several substantive formats have been prepared. Every nation, every region deserves a peaceful life,” Zelenskyy emphasized.
Later, in Damascus, the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, met with the President of Syria, Ahmed al-Sharaa.
They discussed the war of Russia against Ukraine, Ukraine’s role as a food supplier, and strengthening security in the Middle East.
Zelenskyy noted strong interest from Syria in exchanging military experience.
“We agreed to work together to provide more security and opportunities for development for our societies. We discussed the situation in the region and prospects for improving it. We also discussed the circumstances of Russia’s war against Ukraine — I am grateful for the support. There is strong interest in exchanging military and security experience. Thank you for the words of respect for our people.” Zelenskyy said.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and President of Syria Ahmed al-Sharaa also discussed the issue of food security.
“We also touched upon Ukraine’s role as a reliable supplier of food products and discussed joint opportunities to strengthen food security across the entire region. We clearly understand the energy and infrastructure challenges that Syria is currently facing. We are ready to work together so that the capabilities of our states and peoples increase,” the President of Ukraine added.
As reported, on the eve, the Presidents of Ukraine and Turkey — Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Recep Tayyip Erdoğan — agreed in Istanbul on new steps in cooperation on security.
