President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and the acting Prime Minister of Bulgaria Andrey Gyurov signed an agreement on security cooperation between the countries.
As UATV English reports, the leaders announced this at a joint briefing in Kyiv.
Zelenskyy and Gyurov stated that one of the bilateral documents signed on March 30 is an agreement on security cooperation.
“Today, together with the Prime Minister of Bulgaria, we signed a security agreement between our countries. Our teams have been working on this for a long time,” Zelenskyy announced.
He specified that it is a 10-year agreement.
“The main points are the continuation of military support from Bulgaria (…), which we discussed today; joint production on the territory of our countries of various weapons, including drones. We discussed that Bulgaria will use the SAFE program for such joint production,” the President of Ukraine said.
“Today, with the President, we signed a security cooperation agreement that had been prepared for a long time. I am glad that we were able to do this this time. This is not just some formality, it is joint work in the dimension of our shared Atlantic security,” Gyurov said, commenting on the signing of the agreement.
Gyurov also reported that the government of Bulgaria approved a national contribution to the NATO PURL program, under which European partners finance the purchase of American weapons for Ukraine.
On March 30, Ukraine and Bulgaria held their first intergovernmental consultations, during which cooperation in various areas was discussed; in particular, they agreed on a roadmap for cooperation in energy and maritime security.
In addition, it became known that Ukraine and Bulgaria plan a test launch of a passenger train through Romania this summer.
