Another prisoner exchange between Ukraine and Russia took place, with 185 military personnel and 20 civilians returning home.
This was reported by the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, according to Ukrinform.
“We are bringing home 185 of our defenders from Russian captivity. One hundred eighty-three are privates and sergeants, two are officers. These are soldiers of the Armed Forces, the National Guard, and the State Border Guard Service. Civilians are also returning with the defenders – 20 of our people. All of them will be provided with the necessary support,” Zelenskyy said.
He noted that the returned soldiers had been in Mariupol and at Azovstal, at the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant, with most having been in captivity since 2022.
“Thanks to everyone who makes these exchanges possible. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, we have already managed to bring home more than 7,000 of our people. We have to bring everyone back. We work on this every day,” the President emphasized.
As previously reported, the last prisoner exchange between Ukraine and Russia took place on August 24. At that time, it was possible to return soldiers from the Armed Forces, the National Guard, the State Border Guard Service, and civilians, among whom were journalist Dmytro Khiliuk and former Kherson mayor Volodymyr Mykolayenko.
