UATV English reports that the first real contracts for exports of weapons produced in Ukraine are not expected before the second half of 2026, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Rustem Umierov and presidential strategic adviser Oleksandr Kamyshyn told journalists at a meeting on restoring arms exports.
“The defence export market is inertial: the first real contracts are expected no earlier than the second half of 2026,” Umierov said, stressing that this timeframe reflects the normal cycle needed for testing, certification and partners’ procurement procedures.

Officials noted that the opportunity to enter export markets is opening for the entire sector, yet fewer than half of Ukraine’s more than one thousand defence companies are currently ready to complete the technical procedures and obtain export licences.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy previously announced that this year Ukraine will open two representative offices to sell surplus weapons and equipment produced within co-production projects, a step Kyiv says should help accelerate future exports once certification and market requirements are met.
