“Coalition of the Willing” Confirms Continued Support for Ukraine – Tusk

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced on Tuesday, August 19, that representatives of the “Coalition of the Willing” reaffirmed the need for continued support for Ukraine in its war with Russia.

“Leaders from Canada, Japan, Turkey, New Zealand, and European countries assessed the results of the Trump-Putin meeting in Alaska very realistically. We all confirmed the necessity of continued support for Ukraine in its fight against Russia,” Tusk wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

Finnish President Alexander Stubb added that coalition members were briefed on the Washington talks with US President Donald Trump, noting that the meeting demonstrated unity and resolve in Europe to support Ukraine and achieve lasting peace. Finland was represented by Prime Minister Petteri Orpo.

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese also expressed support:

“I participated in another Coalition of the Willing meeting, organized by UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer along with French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, and other leaders. Australia welcomes ongoing efforts aimed at achieving a just and lasting peace, including yesterday’s Washington talks,” he wrote.
