The Chiefs of Staff of the NATO Armed Forces held a virtual meeting to discuss the security challenges facing the Alliance. We are talking about the situation related to the increase of the Russian military presence on the Ukrainian borders and the consequences of such actions.

This was reported by UA with reference to the NATO website.

“The 30 Allied Chiefs of Staff gathered on 6 December for a virtual meeting of the Military Committee to discuss the security challenges facing the Alliance in all operational areas and in all geographical regions,” the statement said.

At the meeting, NATO military leaders heard information from the Supreme Allied Commander-in-Chief and the NATO Assistant Secretary General for Intelligence and Security. The chiefs of staff exchanged information to reach a common understanding in order to strengthen the alliance’s security and defense policy. The aim of the meeting was to achieve transparency among allies and to coordinate current actions at the national and alliance levels.

According to Ukrinform, citing a source at the alliance’s headquarters, the meeting of chiefs of staff took place in an extraordinary manner.

“Yes, the situation around Ukraine’s borders was discussed, but not only that. The task was to assess the situation in a broader context. Because if we focus on only one topic (Russian, – ed.) Building military forces around Ukraine, we can overlook other important details” said the official.

To remind, today Volodymyr Zelenskyy had a telephone conversation with the Secretary of State of the United States of America Anthony Blinken.
