A European delegation headed by the EU’s chief diplomat Kaja Kallas arrived in Kyiv.
This was reported by Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha, writes UATV English.
On the morning of March 31, Kallas arrived in Kyiv, where she was met by the EU Ambassador to Ukraine Katarina Mathernova and Sybiha.
“Welcome to Kyiv, dear European friends, Kaja Kallas and colleagues — ministers of the EU member states,” Sybiha said.
In addition to Kallas, the foreign ministers of Germany, Poland, Latvia, Lithuania, Italy, and Estonia — Johann Wadephul, Radosław Sikorski, Baiba Braže, Kęstutis Budrys, Antonio Tajani, and Margus Tsahkna — also arrived in Kyiv.
“Today we mark the sad anniversary of the Bucha massacre. On that day, horrific images of tortured civilians shook the entire world. Such a strong European presence on this day demonstrates that justice for this and other Russian atrocities is inevitable,” the head of Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry added.
It should be noted that this visit is taking place against the backdrop of renewed tensions regarding the issue of Ukrainian territories in the context of ending the Russia–Ukraine war.
On March 25, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the United States is offering Kyiv its security guarantees only in exchange for the withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from the non-occupied part of Donbas.
After that, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio called the Ukrainian President’s statements false.
Zelenskyy, in turn, stated that his American counterpart Donald Trump and his team, in order to end the war, may put pressure on Ukraine regarding territorial concessions and demand the withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from its own territories.
