The United Kingdom is in talks with Ukraine to sell ground-to-ground missiles for Ukrainian patrol boats and air-to-ground missiles for aircraft.

This was reported by The Times, UA reports.

According to publication, the British Ministry of Defense is discussing the sale of surface-to-surface naval missiles, which can hit a “swarm” of targets at the same time and will be placed on ships in service with the Ukrainian Navy.

The countries are also discussing Brimstone air-to-ground missiles, which are estimated to cost more than £100,000 each. The British Air Force used Brimstone missiles against the Islamic State because they could hit small, fast-moving targets.

For the first time, Britain is negotiating with Ukraine on the sale of lethal weapons. The proposals come amid fears in the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine that Russia may try to use the gas crisis to seize most of its territory, the newspaper writes.

In a conversation with journalists, the Ukrainian diplomat said that any escalation of hostilities between Russia and Ukraine would have “unpredictable consequences” for European security.
