Employees of the Main Military Prosecutor’s Office and Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) conducted searches in the buildings of the Cabinet of Ministers, State Border Guard Service, State Fiscal Service and SE SFTE SpetsTechnoExport, the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine reported.
This investigative action was undertaken to seize evidence in the criminal proceedings regarding the $6.7 million embezzlement of funds from Ukroboronprom. According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, the investigation links to a foreign trade contract concluded between SpetsTechnoExport and an unnamed foreign company about the supply of early warning systems for the State Border Service of Ukraine.
It is mentioned that investigators seized documents and other items which may be used in proving the crime. Also, it is mentioned that, according to article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, no one can be treated guilty of a crime until the crime is finally proven in an orderly way and a Court decision has been rendered.
SpetsTechnoExport commented on the allegations of the embezzlement of $6.7 million by employees of the enterprise.
“The enterprise does not decide on the choice of any defense equipment for procurement for the needs of any of state defense structures. In this case, SpetsTechnoExport was engaged in the supply of equipment to implement state contract between the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the orderer,” the comment says.
