Russian forces struck a military training ground in Kyiv region twice, killing at least 10 people and wounding around 100 others, Ukrainian Air Force spokesman Yurii Ihnat said, UATV English reports.
Ihnat warned that Ukrainians should pay especially close attention to air raid alerts in the coming days.
Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko later confirmed the updated toll, saying at least 10 people were killed and about 100 wounded as a result of the missile strike on Kyiv region.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said a rescue operation was underway in the region following the Russian missile strike, with dozens of people reported injured.
“As of now, six people are known to have died. My condolences to their families and loved ones,” Zelenskyy said, adding that the full circumstances and fate of those affected are still being established, with all necessary emergency services working at the scene.
Separately, Zelenskyy reported a Russian air bomb strike on Sloviansk that killed five people and wounded nine others. He said the strike damaged residential buildings, a consulate building, and vehicles in the city.
“These are brutal strikes against people, and Russia must answer for them. Russia has long ignored every international and human norm — they are interested only in continuing to kill,” Zelenskyy said.
He added that it is essential for partners to fully understand that the protection of human lives also depends on them, calling missiles for Patriot air defense systems “priority number one.”
Casualty figures from Kyiv region were still being updated by officials at the time of publication.
