President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with UK Prime Minister’s National Security Adviser Jonathan Powell to discuss continued support for Ukraine, preparations for the upcoming NATO summit in Ankara, and diplomatic efforts to achieve a just peace, UATV English reports.
Zelenskyy thanked the United Kingdom for approving a new support package worth nearly £290 million and welcomed Britain’s continued backing of Ukraine.
The president said the two sides discussed the battlefield situation, developments in Russia’s temporarily occupied territories, particularly Crimea, as well as Russia’s domestic challenges, including fuel shortages and changing public sentiment.
According to Zelenskyy, the British side acknowledged Ukraine’s recent successes on the battlefield, including the impact of its medium-range and long-range strike campaigns.
The meeting also focused on preparations for the NATO summit in Ankara and diplomatic efforts to advance the peace process. The two sides discussed possible ways to accelerate negotiations and potential formats for future peace talks.
