Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Romanian Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan met to discuss defense support and cooperation in the energy sector, Zelenskyy announced on Facebook.
The Ukrainian leader emphasized that strengthening air defense remains a top priority for Ukraine.
The leaders also focused on developing the energy network between Ukraine and Romania, which would help Ukraine cope with energy shortages caused by ongoing Russian strikes and, in times of surplus, allow electricity exports to Romania.
Additionally, they discussed expanding border crossing points between the two countries, including work on an intergovernmental agreement for joint border control.
Zelenskyy expressed gratitude to Romania for military assistance and contributions to the PURL program, and personally thanked Bolojan for the meeting and support for Ukraine.
Earlier on March 12, Zelenskyy arrived in Bucharest, where Ukraine and Romania signed a declaration on strategic partnership along with several other agreements.
