Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal met with General Seán Clancy, Chair of the EU Military Committee, to discuss the security situation and future defense cooperation.
The meeting covered frontline intelligence updates, Russian military-industrial capabilities, and joint steps to strengthen Ukraine’s defense capacity.
“Ukrainian intelligence provided detailed information on the battlefield situation, Russian plans, and the current state of the Russian defense industry,” Shmyhal said.
“Together, we analyzed next steps to enhance Ukraine’s resilience on the battlefield.”
A key topic was the EU Military Assistance Mission (EUMAM).
Shmyhal noted its high effectiveness, saying they explored ways to expand training efforts and would continue developing military training programs.
“The training of Ukrainian troops under EUMAM has shown strong results,” he emphasized.
The two also discussed urgent needs of Ukraine’s Defense Forces, including:
- Scaling up interceptor missile production
- Expanding FPV drone capabilities
- Developing long-range UAVs
“Ukraine deeply values the EU’s practical support in strengthening our defense,” Shmyhal stated.
“Together, we are securing not only Ukraine, but the entire European continent.”
He also thanked the EU for its leadership, solidarity, and strategic vision.
