As a result of a massive Russian missile strike on Kyiv during the night of July 10, the offices of the Ukrainian TV channel “Channel 5” suffered significant damage. The studio was partially destroyed, and some filming equipment was lost, according to a statement published on the channel’s website.

Fortunately, all employees who were present during the night shift were unharmed.

“There is destruction in the studio, part of the filming equipment was destroyed, and workspaces were damaged. Due to the aftermath of the attack, “Channel 5” is currently unable to resume broadcasting — neither on TV nor on YouTube,” the channel’s statement said.

Restoration efforts are ongoing.

“We are working hard to resume broadcasting. For now, we’re only on YouTube. We hope to be back on air by 13:00 today,” said the channel’s general director, Volodymyr Mzhelskyi.

The channel’s press service also emphasized that the enemy aims to destroy everything Ukrainian and called for continued support of Ukraine’s Defense Forces.

“Don’t forget that we are all fighting for our right to exist. Thank you all for your support,” the statement read.

On February 12, the office of Ukraine’s international broadcaster was also damaged in a Russian strike. Dozens of windows were shattered, and production areas and vehicles were damaged.
On April 6, Russian forces launched another attack on the Ukrainian international broadcasting channels “FREEДОМ” and “Дом,” as well as international editorial teams — UATV English, The Gaze, UATV Español, UATV Arabic, UATV Português, and the digital newsroom.

On April 10, FREEДОМ journalist Oleh Borysov addressed the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) during its spring session in Strasbourg. He provided members of the assembly with information about the April 6 missile strike on the Kyiv building that houses the offices of Ukraine’s international broadcasting service.
