The Chief of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine Lieutenant General Kyrylo Budanov and his deputy, Major General Vadym Skibitskyi, discussed with representatives of the American Council on Foreign Relations the imposition of sanctions against Russia that could stop the war.

According to Ukrinform, this was reported by the DIU in Telegram.

During the meeting of the DIU leadership with representatives of the American Council on Foreign Policy, an analytical organization specializing in foreign policy and defense issues, they discussed the strategic partnership between Ukraine and the United States and the security situation in Europe.

Budanov emphasized the importance of implementing the “peace through strength” approach, which was once voiced by U.S. President Donald Trump, and noted that this is a conceptual framework that can stop Russian aggression and restore stability on the European continent.

The head of the DIU thanked the United States for its ongoing hard work to achieve a common goal – lasting peace.

Skibitsky also expressed hope for further development of bilateral strategic relations between the two countries and emphasized the importance of granting Ukraine the status of a major non-NATO ally.

He also emphasized that the key factors in deterring any manifestations of aggression are compliance with the sanctions regime and a coordinated and decisive response from the international community.

As reported earlier, Republican Senator Lindsey Graham said on social media platform X that the US Senate would soon adopt a package of harsh sanctions against Russia, as well as China and India as the largest buyers of energy from Russia.
