Today, February 12, Russian troops attacked Kyiv with ballistic missiles. As a result of the enemy shelling, one person was killed and there are wounded. Damage and fires were recorded in different areas of the capital.
The data come from the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.
Rescuers are currently eliminating the consequences of the attack in the Obolonsky, Sviatoshynskii and Holosiivsky districts. In particular:
- Obolonsky district – two office buildings were destroyed, a fire broke out in one of them, the fire was extinguished; one person died and one was injured;
- Sviatoshynskii district – a fire on the roof of a multi-story building, the fire was extinguished;
- Holosiivsky district – a fire in a two-story warehouse building, the fire is being extinguished.
According to the mayor of Kyiv Vitaliy Klitschko, three people were injured in the Obolonsky district, including a 9-year-old child.
“In the Obolon district, there is one dead person and three injured people, two of them were hospitalized by doctors, one was given assistance on the spot,” Klitschko specified.
Later, the State Emergency Service said that as a result of the Russian strike in the Obolonsky district of Kyiv, 1 person died and 4 more were injured. A child is among the injured. Rescuers extinguished the fire in the partially destroyed office building.
The head of the presidential office Andriy Yermak responded to the shelling by the Russian Federation:
“Russia launched a missile strike on Kyiv and the Kyiv region, the air defense worked on ballistics. This is how Putin wants the war to end”
Zelenskyy also commented Russian ballistic missile attack against Ukraine.
“Apartment buildings, office buildings, and civilian infrastructure were damaged. All services are working on the ground — eliminating the consequences of the terror”, – stated president of Ukraine.
This terror of Russia against Ukraine will not stop on its own. Putin is not preparing for peace — he continues to kill Ukrainians and destroy cities. Only strong steps and pressure on Russia can stop this terror. Right now, we need unity and support from all our partners in the fight for a just end to this war, — the Ukrainian president wrote
All in all, Ukrainian air defense shot down 6 ballistic missiles and 71 drones. Another 40 location-decoy drones were lost from radar. In total, on the night of February 12, Russia launched 123 drones and 7 Iskander-M missiles at Ukraine.
As a result of the enemy attack, Kyiv region, Dnipropetrovsk region (Kryvyi Rih), Sumy region, Poltava region, and Chernihiv region were affected.
