Zelenskyy and Meloni hold talks at G7 summit

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with President of the Italian Council of Ministers Giorgia Meloni hosting the G7 Summit in Bari, Italy.

Zelenskyy shared the details of the meeting on his X account.

The leaders talked about further defense cooperation, particularly about Italy’s contribution to Ukraine’s air defense capabilities within Italy’s new military aid package.

“I also highly appreciate Italy’s decision to organize the next Ukraine Recovery Conference in Rome in 2025,” Zelenskyy announced.

Among other things, the leader of Ukraine marked Meloni’s contribution to encouraging countries from the Global South to attend the Peace Summit in Switzerland and Italy’s plans to help with the reconstruction of Odesa and the Odesa region in cooperation with UNESCO.

On June 11, Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani announced that Italy was to suppy a SAMP-t air defence system as a part of a new military package and allocate €140 million for infrastructure at the Ukraine Recovery Conference in Berlin.
