On the ninth day of the XXXIII Olympic Games in Paris, representatives of the Ukrainian national team competed in 7 sports and won three Olympic medals – gold and two bronze in athletics, the Gaze reported.

Ukrainian high jumpers Yaroslava Maguchikh won gold and bronze medals at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games with a result of 2.00 m and Iryna Gerashchenko cleared 1.95 m on her first attempt. 

The hammer thrower Mykhailo Kokhan won bronze with a distance of 79.39m. 

This is the third time in its history that Ukraine has won a double podium in athletics at the Olympic Games. 

Here are the results of the competition day on 4 August.

Athletics

Yaroslava Maguchikh became the champion with a result of 2m, beating Australian Nicola Olislagers in the attempts.  Iryna Gerashchenko took bronze, also ahead of four other athletes who, like her, cleared 1.95m. The Ukrainian shared third place with another Australian representative, Eleanor Patterson, who had the same performance.

The hammer thrower Mykhailo Kokhan won bronze with a distance of 79.39m.

Iryna Klymets finished in 26th place in the hammer throw with a distance of 66.95m.

In the 400m hurdles, Anna Ryzhykova finished fourth in 55.13s in her qualifying heat and will have a chance to compete for the semi-finals in the consolation round.

Another representative of Ukraine in the same event, Viktoriia Tkachuk, will continue to compete at the same stage, finishing eighth in her qualifying heat (58.10s).

Oleksandr Pogorilko took 6th place in his 400m qualifying heat with a time of 45.71s and will have a chance to compete for the semi-finals in the consolation round.

Trap shooting (skeet).

Iryna Malovychko finished 24th in the qualification round and failed to reach the final.

Pistol (25m rapid fire pistol).

Pavlo Korostylov reached the final with the third result (587-17x). Another representative of Ukraine, Maksym Horodynets (584-14x), finished in eighth place, two steps away from the top 6, who will continue to fight for awards.

Cycling (road).

Yulia Biriukova finished 67th in the group race.

Artistic gymnastics.

Nazar Chepurny and Ihor Radivilov took 6th and 8th place respectively in the vault final.

Kayak slalom (kayak cross).

Victoria Us, who finished second in her heat, reached the 1/4 finals.

Boxing (80kg weight category).

Oleksandr Khyzhnyak defeated two-time Olympic champion Arlen Lopez Cardona of Cuba in the semi-finals by a split decision (3:2) and will fight for the Olympic gold medal.

With six medals (2 gold, 1 silver, 3 bronze), Ukraine ranks 17th in the medal standings.

Today, 5 August, Ukrainians will compete in 6 sports.

Earlier, Ukrainian fencers won gold at the 2024 Olympics in Paris.
