Ukrainian climber who got lost in the mountains was found in Turkey

Ukrainian citizen who went to the mountains in the eastern Turkish province of Bitlis was rescued in a mountain village. He was taken to hospital.

UA reports this with reference to the Sözcü.

“Ukrainian climber Vadym Zaskalko went hiking on the slopes of Mount Süphan in the Adilcevaz area. Zaskalko got lost and injured his ankle while trying to find a way, after which he called his friends to inform about it” – the statement reads.

After informing the rescue services, units of the gendarmerie, the emergency department and other services went in search of the Ukrainian.

The victim lost contact because his phone was discharged. The Ukrainian got to the nearest village on his own, where he was able to charge his phone and tell his friends about his whereabouts. Local shepherds saved him. Rescuers later took Zaskalko to a local hospital.

His condition is satisfactory.
