UATV and The Gaze in February: launch of UATV po polsku, attention to Zelenskyy’s statements about the inadmissibility of territorial concessions to Russia and successful “Flamingo” strikes

Viewers of Ukrainian international broadcasting in February followed the successes of the Defense Forces of Ukraine, in particular effective strikes on military targets in Russia, the development of a peace plan to end the war, as well as economic difficulties in the Russian Federation. The State Enterprise “IBMPU” launched the YouTube channel UATV po polsku, which has already received 1.2 million views.

In February, video and text content in English, Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic, German, Turkish and Polish on all digital platforms of the Ukrainian international broadcasting channels UATV.English, UATV.Español, UATV.Português, UATV.Arabic, UATV.Deutsch, UATV.Türkçe, UATV po polsku and The Gaze (YouTube, Facebook, X, WhatsApp, web) received 29.6 million views*, of which 20.6 million views were on Facebook, 9 million** on YouTube, the share of YouTube views from abroad amounted to 97.9%. 12.5 million impressions*** reached the coverage of posts published in the communities of these YouTube channels.

The channels of Ukrainian international broadcasting traditionally inform viewers about the steps of the Ukrainian authorities aimed at establishing a just peace. The statements of Volodymyr Zelenskyy that Ukraine is ready to establish peace, but will never give Donbas to the enemy, had significant resonance. The interest of the Ukrainian audience in the successful actions of the Defense Forces of Ukraine remains consistently high; in particular, in February there were high views about strikes by Ukrainian “Flamingo” missiles on the Kapustin Yar training ground (Astrakhan region of the Russian Federation), as well as about the development of new Ukrainian long-range weapons. In February, all international broadcasting platforms paid special attention to the fourth anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine on February 24.

In February, the new platform of Ukrainian international broadcasting in Polish, UATV po polsku, successfully launched. The channel’s content has already received 1.2 million views, of which 715 thousand in February. The channel clearly reaches the target audience: 76.5% of views are from Poland, and overall the share of the foreign audience is 99%. High interest of the Polish audience was caused by materials about Russia’s losses over four years of aggression against Ukraine, losses of the Russian army at the front, Russia’s dependence on China, and successful “Flamingo” strikes on military objects in the Russian Federation.

The English-language YouTube channel of Ukrainian international broadcasting UATV.English received 4.5 million views, the largest audience from the USA – 29%. The top three countries by views also include the United Kingdom (9.8%) and Canada (8.4%). In total, the share of the channel’s audience from abroad amounted to 99.2%. The most resonant video of the month – over 170 thousand views – was Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s statement at the Munich Security Forum that Donbas is part of Ukraine and the region cannot be a subject of bargaining in the peace process. At the same time, the number of views of live broadcasts increased on the platform – 274.6 thousand in February against 184.2 thousand in January. The Facebook account of UATV.English in February received 8.3 million views; the share of the audience from abroad was 92%, of which 28.8% from the United States of America.

The YouTube channel of the English-language platform The Gaze in February collected 254.1 thousand views, the share of the foreign audience amounted to 92.5%, among the leading countries by views are the USA (31.5%), the United Kingdom (10%) and Canada (7%). The top video of the month was an episode of the project “FrontNews” dedicated to serious problems of the Russian army at the front. The Facebook page of The Gaze in February collected a record 2.7 million views for itself against 2.1 million in January. Among the top countries by views traditionally are Venezuela (28.5%), the USA (22.8%) and Brazil (14.3%), in total the share of the page’s audience from abroad is 99.7%.

The content of the YouTube channel UATV.Español in February was viewed 2 million times (in January – 1.6 million times). The share of the audience from abroad for the second month in a row remains at 99.7%, in the top three countries by views are the USA (14.3%), Spain (12.2%) and Mexico (10.2%). The most popular videos of the month were about the consequences of strikes by the Defense Forces of Ukraine on the Kapustin Yar training ground, from where launches of “Oreshnik” are carried out, and the consequences of missile strikes by the Russian army on Ukrainian cities. The Facebook page of UATV.Español last month was viewed 2.1 million times. Most often it is visited from Venezuela (30.1%), Argentina (24.6%) and Ecuador (11.7%).

The content of the Portuguese-language channel of Ukrainian international broadcasting UATV.Português in February received 931 thousand views. The platform steadily enjoys interest among the target audience: 73.3% of views from Brazil, 11% from Portugal. In total, views from abroad amounted to 99.7%. The top videos of the month among the Portuguese-speaking audience were reports about the successful use of “Flamingo” missiles against Russian military targets. The Facebook page of UATV.Português in February was viewed 43 thousand times, the share of readers from abroad amounted to 98.8%, in particular 59.1% from Brazil, 40.4% from Angola.

The Ukrainian international broadcasting platform UATV.Arabic on Facebook in February received 7.5 million views against 7 million views in January, content in Arabic on YouTube collected 205 thousand views. The top video of the month was footage from the preparation of Ukrainian military personnel for the assault of enemy positions. The share of the foreign audience on UATV.Arabic on YouTube amounted to 98.7%, on the Facebook page – 98.9%. The top countries by views on both platforms traditionally include Algeria, Morocco and Iraq.

The UATV.Deutsch channel collected 302 thousand views, the audience from abroad – 98.8%, while 74% of viewers are from Germany. The greatest interest was caused by the episode of the project “Special Report” dedicated to the collapse of the automobile market in Russia.

The Turkish-language channel UATV.Türkçe continues to develop – in February the platform’s content was viewed 95 thousand times. The top video of the month was a report about the progress of the meeting of the trilateral group on preparing a peace agreement in the UAE. The share of viewers from abroad amounted to 95.2%, in particular 50.9% from Turkey, 11.4% from Azerbaijan, 10% from Germany.

The international broadcasting team actively works with the communities of UATV channels on YouTube. Thus, content in the UATV.English community was viewed 9.8 million times, in the UATV.Português community – 545 thousand times, and in the UATV.Arabic community – 220 thousand. In addition, 1.5 million impressions were received by the UATV.Español community, 470 thousand by the community of the platform The Gaze. The total coverage of posts published in the communities of UATV.English, UATV.Español, UATV.Português, UATV.Arabic and The Gaze in October reached 12.5 million views. Users follow the steps towards establishing a just peace in Ukraine, the successes of the Defense Forces of Ukraine at the front and in the Russian rear, as well as the deepening of economic problems in Russia.
