The situation is dynamic and changes every hour, – a military-political analyst about the battles in the Avdiivka direction

In the Avdiivka direction, the situation on the line of combat contact is very dynamic and changes within a few hours. This is an indicator of both the successful nature of the Ukrainian active defense and, accordingly, the efforts of the occupiers in pushing through Ukrainian defensive positions. Military-political analyst Dmytro Snenirev stated this on the FREEDOM TV channel.

He noted that over the past 24 hours the number of attacks by Russian occupiers has increased proportionally.

“28 attacks were repulsed in the Avdiivka direction in the area of Northern Pervomaisk and Nevelskoye. Plus active hostilities in the Stepovoye area. Statements by the Russian side about tactical successes in the Stepopovo area and the implementation of so-called stabilization measures, that is, cleansing of a populated area, do not correspond to reality. At the moment, the fighting is taking place on the outskirts of Stepovoye, there are certain tactical successes of the invaders on the flanks, advances to the area of the railway line, but not the establishment of complete control over the populated area, as they claim,” said Dmytro Snegirev.

The military-political analyst noted that a similar situation is developing in the area of the Avdiivka coke plant, where heavy fighting is taking place.

“Basically the fighting takes place up to the so-called dividing line. There are attempts by the occupiers to push through the Ukrainian defense in the area of the wastewater treatment plant and to attack the flank of the fortified positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The situation is difficult in the area of the so-called “industry” – the occupiers managed to gain a foothold, and periodically, not with reconnaissance and sabotage groups, but with regular advanced groups, they try to push through the Ukrainian defense and directly enter Avdiivka from the private sector,” he said.

Snegirev noted that this is not about the fact that the occupiers have gained a foothold in the private sector in this area.

“At the moment, there is a location of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which allows for the rotation of personnel, the supply of ammunition and the removal of the wounded. The width of the corridor in different sections is from 6 to 6.5 km. And the main thing is the critical level of losses of the Russian occupiers during the battles for the Avdiivka defense hub. Starting from October 10 and as of December, the losses of the occupiers, according to estimates from the Ukrainian and Western sides, are 12-14 thousand personnel, more than 200 armored vehicles and more than 120 tanks. These are serious losses for the Russian occupation forces,” said the military-political analyst.

He also emphasized the rotation of units carried out by Russian occupation forces that are directly involved in assault operations in the Avdiivka area.

“The main striking force is the units of the so-called 1st Army Corps of the quasi-formation “DPR” and the so-called “Storm-z” units, staffed by former “prisoners” who entered into direct agreements with the Ministry of Defense. That is, the contingent that you don’t mind using as “meat assaults,” Snegirev clarified.

Let us recall that military observer Denis Popovich said that Kremlin head Vladimir Putin constantly sets the military leadership of the Russian Federation the task of seizing certain Ukrainian territories. Today, the Russian occupiers are faced with the task of winning at least some kind of “victory” before the presidential elections in Russia. In particular, we are talking about the capture of Kupyansk and Avdeevka.
