The level of corruption in Ukraine is much lower than 5 years ago. Reforms of the National Bank of Ukraine, introduction of the Prozorro procurement system, changes in the gas sector – have a positive effect.
This was stated by the representative of the European Commission at a meeting of the European Parliament’s committees on foreign affairs and budget control Katarina Mathernova, UA reports.
According to research, the economic effect of them is 6% of GDP or about EUR 6 billion annually. Mathernova also commented on the report of the European Court of Auditors.
“We all agree that Ukraine still has problems with corrupt behavior and oligarchic structures, with unreformed courts, with a number of state-owned enterprises and other areas where corruption exists. But what we have a very different approach from the Court of Auditors is the assessment of trends. Ukraine is now a much less corrupt country than 5 years ago” – said a representative of the European Commission.
