Kyiv came under a large-scale Russian missile and drone attack early Sunday, shortly after Ukraine’s Air Force warned of a possible launch of an Oreshnik hypersonic ballistic missile.
Explosions were heard across the Ukrainian capital shortly after 1 a.m. local time following an alert published by the Air Force on Telegram warning of a potential Oreshnik strike threat.
According to UATV English, Reuters reported this.
According to Vitali Klitschko, at least three people were injured in the attack, while several residential buildings sustained damage in different districts of the city.

Earlier on Saturday, Volodymyr Zelenskyy warned that Russia was preparing a new strike against Ukraine potentially involving the Oreshnik missile system. According to Zelenskyy, the warning was based on intelligence shared by Ukraine, the United States, and European partners.
Ukraine’s Air Force did not immediately confirm whether an Oreshnik missile was actually used in the attack.
Russia has previously used the Oreshnik system against Ukraine on two occasions. Vladimir Putin has repeatedly claimed that the missile is effectively impossible to intercept due to its reported speed of more than ten times the speed of sound.
The latest escalation came after Putin ordered the Russian military to prepare retaliatory measures following a Ukrainian drone strike on a student dormitory in the Russian-occupied part of Luhansk region. Ukrainian officials stated that the operation targeted a Russian drone command center.
