The Czech Republic is ready to start delivering artillery ammunition collected for Ukraine all around the world in June.

Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala stated this before a meeting in Prague on Ukraine’s defence in May 28, citing Reuters.

“The first tens of thousands of 155 mm ammunition will be delivered in June. Ukraine can expect the first batch in the coming days,” Fiala said.

As Petr Fiala met with Denys Shmyhal, Ukrainian Prime Minister, in Prague, he informed him that EU and NATO countries have already raised more than €1.6 billion for ammunition for Ukraine under the initiative led by the Czech Republic.

The talks in Prague were joined by other European leaders, Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte, Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, Latvian Prime Minister Evika Siliņa, and Polish President Andrzej Duda.

They made a joint statement, saying that they “expect to deliver half a million pieces of artillery ammunition by the end of the year” and are willing to continue the initiative for as long as necessary.

Shmyhal also expressed his gratitude to Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte for an initiative on assembling a Patriot system for Ukraine.
