On July 14, the EU Council included Ukraine in the recommended list of third countries whose citizens are proposed to have temporary restrictions on non-compulsory travel to the European Union lifted.
UA informs this with reference to the web-site of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba welcomes the EU’s decision to include Ukraine in the travel green list.
“I welcome the decision of the EU, which recommends to restore the full effect of visa-free travel with Ukraine. It shows that the indicators of the epidemic situation in Ukraine meet EU requirements. This is a new Ukrainian travel opportunity this summer and an important signal to the states of the world, the incidence of COVID-19 in Ukraine has significantly decreased and our state properly responds to the challenges of the pandemic” – the minister said.
The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry reminds that being included in the “green list” does not mean an automatic possibility of entry into the territory of all EU member states. The decision of the EU Council is of a recommendatory nature for the member states, which make the final decision on the inclusion of third countries in the national “green lists” taking into account the epidemic situation in their country.
After the decision of the EU Council, Kuleba instructed diplomats to conduct additional negotiations with authorized bodies in the EU member states on including Ukraine in the national green lists and updating state standards for crossing the Ukrainian border.
