The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has delivered 159,600 doses of CoronaVac vaccine to Ukraine as part of COVAX.
This is reported by UA with the reference to the website of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.
The CoronaVac vaccine, manufactured by Sinovac (China), is approved by the WHO for emergency use. This means that this product meets international standards for safety, efficiency and production conditions.
Ukraine receives this batch free of charge like other COVAX vaccines and products.
“The incidence of COVID-19 is growing in Ukraine, and 98% of hospitalized are unvaccinated. It is extremely important that as many Ukrainians as possible get vaccinated today to protect themselves from the severe course of COVID-19, hospitalization and death. Ukrainians have access to the vaccines thanks to our partners” – said the Minister of Health of Ukraine Viktor Liashko.
The COVAX initiative is an unprecedented example of the solidarity of the international community, which aims to ensure fair and equal access to COVID-19 vaccines for all countries. Deliveries will continue. Ukraine is expected to receive enough vaccines from various manufacturers to protect up to 20% of the population from COVID-19 by the end of 2021.
To remind, vaccination against COVID-19 may become mandatory in Ukraine.
