The office of the representative of the President of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea is working for 29 years. After Volodymyr Zelenskyy changed the approach to the role of this body, the representative office has more actively joined the process of returning the temporarily occupied territories of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol.

This was stated by the permanent representative of the president in Crimea, Anton Korinevych, the Office of the President informs.

On December 17, 1992, the Parliament of Ukraine adopted a law on the representation of the President of Ukraine in the Republic of Crimea. The day became the date of foundation of the representative’s office.

In spring of 2014, after the beginning of the occupation of the Crimean Peninsula by the Russian Federation, the representative’s office resumed its activities near the peninsula – in Kherson city. Given the numerous violations of human rights by the Russian Federation and the importance of developing a policy of de-occupation and reintegration, in 2019 the head of state decided to open a representative’s office in Kyiv, which took over a number of strategic issues, and the office in Kherson continued working upon the implementation of tactical tasks and with citizens’ appeals.

In 2019, Volodymyr Zelenskyy appointed Anton Korinevych permanent representative of the President of Ukraine in Crimea, while Daria Svyrydova and Tamila Tasheva became his deputies.

The office and partners, are working upon the development of initiatives aimed at implementing the Strategy for the de-occupation and reintegration of Crimea, the development of a transitional justice policy, the observance of human rights and the implementation of other measures aimed at restoring the territorial integrity of Ukraine and protecting our citizens from the temporarily occupied territories.

The representative office was involved in the implementation of the initiative for the de-occupation of Crimea – the launch of the international platform Crimean Platform.

Today 34 team members work in the office.

“Changing the approach to the role of the representative’s office and the opportunity to have a full-fledged office in Kyiv, which ensures our work and enhances interagency cooperation, is an important step of the President of Ukraine in shaping a consistent policy for the return of Crimea. Thanks to the amendments to the decree on representation, we are included in the processes that relate to the return of the temporarily occupied territories of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol, and are ready to demonstrate our first results”, said Korinevych.

He expressed his conviction that the organ will definitely re-open its doors in Simferopol.

Earlier it was reported that the Crimean Tatar ornament was included in the UNESCO heritage list.
