Starting November 1, 2021, the Russian Federation will stop supplying coal to Ukraine.
UA reports this with reference to the Telegram channel of Andrii Gerus.
Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Energy and Housing and Communal Services Andrii Gerus said that it was coal that was used to generate electricity.
“Starting November 1, the Russian Federation will suspend supplies of thermal coal to Ukraine. These are “A” (anthracite) and “P” (lean) coal. Such coal was imported by DTEK (Luhansk TPP, Kryvyi Rih TPP), Donbasenergo (Slavyanska TPP) and TechNova (Darnytsya TPP, Sumy TPP, Chernihiv TPP)” – Gerus wrote.
The ban does not apply to coking coal, but only to coal used for energy purposes.
“Such actions of the Russian Federation are similar to their actions in the fall of 2014” – Gerus summed up.
To remind, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved the concept of the State target program of fair transformation of coal regions of Ukraine for the period till 2030. Regions with a population of 850 thousand people will gradually abandon coal mining.
