The Russian delegation deliberately disrupts the work of the humanitarian subgroup of the Trilateral Contact Group for Peaceful Settlement of the Situation in Eastern Ukraine (TCG).
UA reports this with reference to the Ukrainian delegation to participate in the TCG.
Less than a day before the beginning of the meeting, the Russian delegation made a technical announcement about the involvement of a citizen of Ukraine Maia Pirogova, who was convicted in Ukraine for terrorism, in the work of the humanitarian subgroup of the TCG.
“The Ukrainian delegation sees this as a conscious attempt to disrupt the consultations, especially given the previous experience of the Russian delegation blocking the work of the political subgroup in this way. The Ukrainian delegation does not consult with persons convicted of terrorism” – the statement reads.
Representatives of Ukraine noted that this is how the Russian delegation is trying to shift its direct and sole responsibility for the consistent failure to resolve humanitarian issues. For example, such as the exchange of persons detained in connection with the conflict, the unblocking of the work of the checkpoints on the Russian side, and so on.
To remind, Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda stressed that Russia must remain under sanctions.
